The Ultimate Parent-preneur Adventure
Hey there, fellow parent-preneurs!
Remember when working from home meant sipping coffee in pajamas? Well, add a one-year-old to the mix, and things get real interesting, real fast. In this blog, we're diving into the wild world of juggling work-from-home life with a toddler tornado.
Grab your coffee (or juice box) and let's roll!
The Perks of WFH with Your Mini-Boss:
It truly is amazing to be able to work from home and watch my daughter learn and grow. Honestly being here every step of the way, I wouldn’t want it any other way. So to help you with this transition if you’re considering working from home with your toddler, I am going to list out a few perks for you.
How often do you hang out with your best friend? I mean, before baby, it was all the time, right? Well, now you have a live-in bestie! You're now your child’s full-time playmate and witness to all those "first steps" and "first words" moments. Priceless, right?FlexiTime, Baby! Forget the 9-to-5 grind. With WFH, you're the boss of your schedule. Need to take a break for a snack or a diaper change? No problemo!
Since operating my own business I am able to take on clients who fit my schedule. When having your own business the last thing you want is to take on a client whose workload is not realistic to your home obligations. I remember back in the day (I mean not that I remember) but I heard women stayed home and the men/fathers worked. Realistically I feel we shouldn’t have to be overworked and underpaid. Time is the most expensive thing in this world and we cannot get a refund.
Being able to be Commute-free & Cash-happy, I mean that is a win win combination right there. Say Goodbye, traffic jams and daycare bills, unless you want to go out and work somewhere else for a change of scenery. Working from home means more moolah in your pocket and less time wasted in transit.
I’ve named a few amazing perks working from home with a toddler and it is priceless. But with rewards come EPIC challenges too to take into consideration.
My toddler has taken over my work area. I mean everywhere I turn there she is. It’s cute but it is also hard to get certain tasks done when I am moving her out of the way. Your workspace just turned into Toddler Territory, complete with surprise interruptions and toy invasions. The struggle is real!
I never knew how I could hold her in one arm type and manage to grab her toys and put them in her basket, in all the same time. I mean motherhood definitely pushes you to the limit. Is there a thing called superhuman juggling: Balancing work tasks and toddler demands? It's like being a one-person circus act! 🤹♀️
How many of you miss office banter? Once upon a time, you may have been talking to a coworker saying you don’t want to work for no one but yourself. Working from home will be great right? Now you’re working from home, think about it when was the last time you had a real adult conversation? I am there with you. Might as well say Sayonara, because working from home can get lonely when you're used to office chatter.
When I am home I feel like I’m not giving my all at work or with your kiddo. But when I am done I like to take her to the park etc. Mind you as I write this blog she is 1 and still nursing. So even though I feel bad for not playing with her or taking her somewhere, she is very much always on me. So sometimes I find myself walking down the Guilt Trip Central but I try and work through it. Let’s not talk about when I leave the house huhhhh! Welcome to the guilt-trip rollercoaster.
